Dress Up As Indian Princess

Want to be an indian princess for your costume party? Do you want to wear all the jewelry and fancy clothes for halloween or any other fancy costume party or event? Then here's the article for you!

Step

1. Pick your dress.  Choose from regular or lehenga style saree or ghagra choli.

Regular Style Saree:
Regular saree is an unstitched cloth 4.5 to 5.5 metres in length. The saree is worn over a petticoat with a blouse also known as choli. The end of the saree is tucked into the petticoat, continue to tuck in the remaining saree and go around and make complete turns, at this point pleats are formed. Finally drape the end portion or the pallu over the shoulder. Search the internet on "How to wear a Sari" and you will find many how-tos videos to help you.

Lehenga Style Saree :
Lehenga style Saree is a new trend of Saree introduced in India. It is a form of readymade saree that arose from the need of an artistic yet easy to wear party wear.  For this style a long skirt is worn in replace of the petticoat as in a regular saree. The method of draping this type of saree is quite simple and easy. It's easier and tassle free than draping a regular saree. The plain end of the saree is tucked into the in skirt, making one complete round similar to wearing a regular saree but without making any pleats. Finally, the pallu is draped over the shoulder like a regular saree. Few Lehenga style saris come with side hooks too. Hook it and fix technique fits the Lehenga style saree snugly around the waist.

Ghagra Choli:
Ghagra choli is a two piece clothing comprising a choli and a lahenga. Ghagra cholis are simple long skirts worn with a blouse and a dupatta, a long scarf.  The dupatta can be worn over the head or pinned artistically over shoulders. Over the years Ghagras has change its fashion style from a simple long skirt to A-line, fish tail or flowing umbrella designs. The layers add to volume and contrasting fabrics layered in net and satin is appealing. The real grace can be seen as it twirls around during a dance or a graceful walk.

2.  Choose your jewellery. You may skip this part if you do not want to wear any jewellery. However I really do recommend that you wear some jewellery as it is the essence of the Indian beauty and also it completes the overall look.

3. Wear make-up and bindis. Check out the video below.

4. Wear appropriate and comfortable shoes.
